Getting started with TAA
Trade Adjustment Assistance - navigation

Accessing the financial assistance offered through Trade Adjustment Assistance for Firms (TAA) is simple. Learn how import-impacted manufacturers, and those that assist manufacturers, begin participating in this federal program.

If an import-impacted manufacturer intends to change its business to better compete, anticipates using consultants to implement these plans and could use a boost in paying for the expertise, then TAA is a good fit. Interested firms begin by contacting one of eleven regional Trade Adjustment Assistance Centers (TAACs).

TAAC staff will assess eligibility and prepare an application on the firm's behalf. Manufacturers qualify if imports have contributed to declines in employment and sales or production. There are many ways these requirements can be met, so we strongly recommend that an interested firm not rule itself out of the program before talking to experienced TAAC staff.

"We found working with the Trade Adjustment Assistance program to be very simple and unbureaucratic."

If you are a trade association, bank, economic development group, consulting firm or any other organization working with manufacturers, you may know of firms that could benefit from this program. If so, please call us to schedule a presentation to your group and/or clients for further explanation of Trade Adjustment Assistance.

Contact your regional TAAC to learn more.
